Jersey Girl

So in case you've been living under a rock for the past few months and have only now emerged, all greasy haired and pimply to work as a carny at the one of the summer's traveling amusement parks, let me catch you up to date. Kate's been pregnant for let's say the last nine months or so. Now that we're all on the same page we can talk about some more current events. Have you heard about that oil washing up on the Gulf coast?

Anyways, Kate was due last Sunday. No baby came on Sunday. On Monday Kate and her mom Anne went and bought a crib for the baby so it was probably a good thing the baby was late or she would have been sleeping in a DeWalt tool box I found on the street. It's a pretty big box and DeWalt makes a quality product but I guess cribs are good too. Monday night we all went into the city to see the musical In the Heights. When we came home I went to bed but Kate and Anne stayed up playing games. Kate woke me up at two to tell me she was having contractions. Kate didn't feel like we needed to go the hospital till the morning so we didn't.

(Just a little pre-birth fashion show but Kate kept practicing her air flute and ruined the whole show)

We walked over the the hospital (it's only 3 blocks from our house) on Tuesday morning. Kate had a contraction on the walk over. They admitted her and took us to a delivery room. Now let me just take a second and tell about this room. It was a private room which isn't always the case out here, and it had an incredible view of the New York harbour, the Verrazano bridge, Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty. I was that close to naming our baby Liberty Freedom-Fries Steed the view was that inspiring. That being said if our window was looking the other direction I probably could have watched a mugging or other illicit activities.

(Kate, not fully enjoying the amazing view.)

I won't get into details but we were in the hospital the rest of the day and there were some needles, some poking, some pushing, the miracle of life and then there was a baby. Kate had her at 7:25 pm on the 27th and she was 6 lbs 14 oz, 20.5 inches. We named her Bridget Anne Steed. Both Kate and Bridget are doing well and I'm well too in case you were wondering. Cue the pictures of Bridget.

Kate came home with Bridget today from the hospital. Now the adventure begins.
